Each member is elected by the stakeholder group he/she represents.  Our goal is to have fifty percent parent membership of SAC, but currently we only have 18%.   During a thorough review of a SIP draft, our SAC team will make activity recommendations that will then be added to the final approval.  Parent suggestions will be documented in the SAC minutes. A Parent Suggestion Box will be located in the main office and will be monitored regularly to obtain additional recommendations. The SAC team will make suggestions to aim significant portions of PI funds toward providing support materials for selected activities.  Delivery and participation of the selected activities will be monitored by the SAC team during the year.  During upcoming meetings, the SAC team will specifically examine the results of the School Climate Perception Survey for parents. Information will include how to receive translation services and how to schedule conferences with teachers and staff as needed. 2  Migrant Education The migrant staff will coordinate an annual meeting to inform parents about the program and services offered throughout the district as well as services in the community. 3 AVID/Title1 The AVID coordinator will offer quarterly meetings to keep parents informed of new strategies for AVID students. The AVID coordinator will distribute materials and make parents aware of community and college/career opportunities during these meetings. 4 Parent Training The Guidance Department, Academic Coaches, and/or the AVID coordinator will host two meetings specifically to share websites and strategies that parents can use to assist their  students at home. 5 Parent Information Night Pow-Pow The Parent Involvement Committee will bring information from the school-based parent night to the local community for those unable to attend. The meetings will be held in the Grant Park Recreation Center. Meetings will be held in October 2015 and January 2015. 6 Book Study: Motivating Black Males to Achieve in School and in Life The Parent Involvement Committee will be hosting the book study and will invite parents of stakeholders to attend. Parents are always welcome in the media center  to look for information for themselves or their child. Parent Link phone calls, email, and newsletters are other forms of communication used to encourage parent participation in their child's education. Educational field trips such as Nature's Classroom, History Museum, and MOSI are offered.
