Mission Statement

Parental Involvement Mission Statement (Optional)

Response: The Millennium Middle School family consists of students, staff, parents, and the community working together to develop positive character traits, strong academic skills, and a feeling of success. This is accomplished by empowering students to feel motivated, self-confident, and successful across all settings: academic, community, home, and within him/herself. We strive to create partnerships with parents in order to help ensure each child successes.

Involvement of Parents

Describe how the school will involve parents in an organized, ongoing, and timely manner, in the planning, review, and improvement of Title I programs including involvement in the decisions regarding how funds for parental involvement will be used [Sections1118(c)(3), 1114(b)(2), and 1118(a)(2)(B)].

Response: Millennium Middle School actively recruits parents to assist in our every day affairs. We enlist parents in SAC, PTSA, and the Dividends program to help serve and accommodate our staff as needs arise. Flyers asking parents to serve on our Parent Advisory Team are distributed at Schedule Pick-Up and through the Dividend's distribution list on the VIPs system.

Millennium's SAC committee will take part in the planning and reviewing of the Title I Parent Involvement Plan. The Family Engagement liaison/contact will organize a parent group that will provide input in the parent involvement plan. SAC is represented by teachers from various grade levels, support staff, parents, business partners, and community members that volunteer to serve on the committee.

Flexible Parent Meetings

Response: Millennium Middle School attempts to schedule meetings and workshops at flexible times that are conducive to parental attendance. Millennium will offer parent workshops and meetings in the evening and will provide child care for parents if needed. Child care services are offered for non-school aged children so parents can participate in parent-teacher conferences, workshops, and trainings. Our book fair is held twice yearly, with parents invited to shop with their children either during school hours or by attending one of our Parent Involvement trainings held at night during the Book Fair week.

Historically, Millennium Middle School's evening events draw the highest numbers of attendance. We find that our numbers thrive when students have performances and child care and refreshments are offered. Records will be kept by the Family Engagement Liaison and will be available in the discipline office. Schedule changes and additions will be modified as needed and as new programs and information become available.

These emails will include reminders and updates of school events and business and encourage parents to take an active role in the education of their children. The school Website, Facebook page, Twitter account, and Remind 101 accounts will also be used to keep parents informed of Parent Involvement opportunities as they arise.

Millennium Middle School will also host a Literacy and Student Led Conference Night that will target a group of parents that don't normally attend school functions. Extensive planning, refreshments, door prizes, translators, and transportation will be provided for parents to boost the attendance of this event. Flyers and other mailings are translated and available in Spanish whenever possible, with interpretation always available by phone or in person. Spanish translators and ASL interpreters for meetings, parent conferences, and workshops are available upon request. If another language is required, Seminole County Public Schools has a list of translators that can be requested as well. Millennium is a disability-friendly school, having ramps and an elevator to accommodate all visitors and guests. The campus contains no physical barriers that discourage parent attendance at functions and/or meetings.

Information concerning school events will be posted on the school's website, on the marquee in front of the school, and through notes or flyers sent home with students. A bi-monthly newsletter (The Falcon FlightPlan) also advertises all Parent Engagement events and is sent home with every student at Millennium.
