Mission Statement

Parental Involvement Mission Statement (Optional)

Response: To provide an education that enables each student to excel as a successful and responsible citizen by establishing partnerships with parents. Partnership opportunities will be comprehensive and coordinated, when appropriate, with other programs. They will include, but not be limited to, the components of successful family engagement programs contained in the National PTA Standards for Parent/Family Involvement Programs.

Involvement of Parents

Describe how the school will involve parents in an organized, ongoing, and timely manner, in the planning, review, and improvement of Title I programs including involvement in the decisions regarding how funds for parental involvement will be used [Sections1118(c)(3), 1114(b)(2), and 1118(a)(2)(B)].

Response: As a Title I school, Woodbridge Elementary provides parental involvement in a variety of ways: School Advisory Council members meet monthly to develop, implement and evaluate the School Improvement Plan and Parent Involvement Plan. More than 50 % of the SAC members are parents/non-employee representatives who review, approve and monitor school data at these meetings. They provide direct input into decisions impacting programs and expenditures. SAC and PTA Board members are elected from individuals who have indicated they would like to participate on the respective committees. Information obtained from PTA, SAC, all of the Parent Informational Sessions' comment-input sheets and Parent Involvement Survey, is used to determine how to best budget any parental involvement funds available and to design/adjust activities. Our school documents parental involvement through the use of sign-in sheets, agendas, handouts-presentation materials, comment sheets and meeting minutes. Parents are notified and invited to all school meetings either by flyers, notices on school website, posted calendars, newsletters, telephone reminders (ParentLink), and the school marquee. This monitored documentation is located in Title I TASK Box.

Coordination and Integration

Describe how the school will coordinate and integrate parental involvement programs and activities that teach parents how to help their children at home, to the extent feasible and appropriate, including but not limited to, other federal programs such as: Head Start, Early Reading First, Even Start, Home Instruction Programs for Preschool Youngsters, the Parents as Teachers Program, public preschool, Title I, Part C, Title II, Title III, Title IV, and Title VI [Section 1118(e)(4)].
